Did you recently get a wig/ hair extensions installed? Read our new guide below on how to take care of your hair after your appointment!
How to Take Care of Your Wig After Your Installation Appointment:
If you plan on taking your wig off at night, I recommend covering it with a bonnet and placing it on a wig stand. If your wig is sew-on, I recommend wrapping it in the same way you would after getting a silk press. (Need help wrapping your hair? Read our previous blog on wrapping tips.) Got a curly wig? Put it in two braids before you go to bed, and it'll be easy to detangle the next day.
How to Refresh Your Wig:
To refresh your wig in the morning, I recommend styling it with either a flat iron, or if your wig is curly, a spray water bottle.
How to Store Your Wig:
You can store your wig in a wig bag, or, if you don't have this, you can use a gallon-sized plastic bag. If you find that your wig needs some TLC before storing it, you can bring it to me, and I'll get it looking good as new!
How to Take Care of Your Weave Extension After Your Installation Appointment:
To maximize your sew-in, you should wrap it every night using my tried-and-true wrapping technique.
Please note: With a poor-quality sew-in, your sew-in is at risk of getting matted or tangled. It can also significantly shed.
How to Refresh Your Sew-in Extension:
After three weeks, you should plan on washing your sew-in. If you wait any longer, your hair follicles can clog, leading to stunted hair growth. Dirty hair can also make it hard for your sew-in to hold a style.
Once your hair starts growing out, the sew-in will start to get loose, indicating that it's time for a maintenance appointment.
